Progressive overload is a rule you can apply to one exercise. Enter the load, the hardest set, and the rep range you are keeping. The result is the next line in the log, not a new programme.
The rule
- If the reps got messy, repeat the load or take some off. The number does not count.
- If the hardest set is under the range, repeat the load. Do not add weight because the calendar moved.
- If you are inside the range and the reps were clean, add one rep next time. Same load.
- If you own the top of the range on the hardest set, add the smallest load the kit allows and let the reps fall back toward the bottom.
Do not add weight, reps, and an extra set in the same week. The tool will not suggest that, and you should not add it afterwards.
Read progressive overload without ego lifting before you use the result on every exercise in the session. Start with one.
